STAFF ACTIVITIES

At Nordic Tours, we place great value on regular personnel activities to help strengthen our team spirit and camaraderie. We actively promote a work environment where motivation and joy are key areas of focus.

Below you will find just some of the staff activities we have organised throughout the past few years. In addition, all team members get the opportunity to go on a study trip every two years. In 2025, as the pinnacle of of our 25th annivesary celebration, we travelled to the stunning Lofoten islands in northern Norway, including, among other things, a ride on the iconic Hurtigruten into the awe-inspiring Trollfjord!

25th Anniversary

What a magnificent day it was when NORDIC TOURS A/S celebrated its 25th anniversary on Friday, April 4th, 2025, with a reception for all its employees, selected partners, former employees and board members. The day was accompanied by live music, light meals and a cool glass of wine. The atmosphere was festive and the conversation lively. As Hanne, the founder of Nordic Tours, said during her speech, “All of you who are present today have been part of our journey in one way or another, so this is as much your anniversary!”

Across the Finish Line

Our annual event, rich in tradition, is the DHL Run in August. Many of our employees participate in running and walking teams – or at the very least, a cheering team! The evening culminates in an impressive fireworks show above the beautiful Marselis forest and Bay of Aarhus. Much of our staff is passionate about being active and organize weekly running and walking groups, in addition to participating in races at home and abroad, like the Royal Run or half and full marathons.

Timm Vladimirs Cooking Class

In September 2024, we filled a bus with happy employees who spent a Sunday in Copenhagen for site inspections and activities – the Copenhagen Food Walk, a Hello Captain boat tour and a guided bike tour were just some of the experiences sampled. The evening was spent participating in an “Italian for Beginners” cooking class hosted by Timm Vladimirs Kitchen, creating the most delicious menu as a team: bruschetta, pizza bianco, saltimbocca and tiramisu. The following day, the team made the excursion to the 45-metre-high forest tower, Skovtårnet, part of Camp Adventure nestled in the lush forests of South Zealand. What a wonderful weekend!

Owner of the Year

November 6, 2024, turned out to be a fantastic evening at PwC in Aarhus. Hanne, the founder and CEO of Nordic Tours, was nominated as one of 3 finalists for ‘Owner-Manager of the Year’ in Eastern Jutland – and she ended up taking the honours! Sandie, Birthe, Lone, Marianne, Brian and Morten were there to help celebrate the well-deserved award, presented by PwC, Nykredit, and Dansk Erhverv. The following morning the entire staff enjoyed a champagne celebration at the office and made sure award-winner, Hanne, received a warm welcome!

A Beautiful Day in the Woods

Nordic Tours employees frequently get surprised and pampered — especially on top of a great season. In 2023, the company invited everyone to a beautiful day at a popular music festival in the forests of Skanderborg — Smukfest. All were treated to dinner and drinks and could enjoy great sounds and good vibes from a wide selection of some of the biggest Danish and foreign artists. The rain didn’t stand a chance of dampening our spirits!

Padel Excitement

A new activity has entered our lives and is definitely here to stay — padel tennis. Many of our employees have tried their hand at it, and we’ve organised company round robin play on several occasions. Entertainment and exercise is plentiful, along with a healthy dose of competition. Some of our team members play in organised leagues in their free time and even attend training camps at Club La Santa — they are ready to take on any challenge, both on and off the court!

Summer Party

Summer 2024 was the backdrop for a joyful party on the Aarhus River — located right across from the office. The celebrations began with a sailing competition, including challenging and creative team tasks, followed by a mouth-watering buffet, games, singing and dancing!

Pancake Day

A beloved tradition for many years is the Nordic Tours “Pancake Day,” originating from Great Britain. It all began with our English colleagues preparing freshly made pancakes, much to everyone’s delight. In more recent years, we have hired “Pandekagekompagniet” (The Pancake Company) to prepare an all-you-can-eat lunch and dessert pancake buffet. It’s hard to resist the delicous scent of fresh pancakes wafting through the office, and we look forward to this tasty event every year!

Cake, Cake & More Cake

We have rather a sweet tooth here at Nordic Tours. Whenever it’s someone’s birthday — or on any other festive occasion — pastries, bread or freshly baked buns are rolled out in our common area, “Café Moose.” Shown here is the birthday celebration of three employees who, together, set up an authentic South Jutland ‘kaffebord,’ or coffee spread — now that’s Danish “hygge”!

Minigolf “Masters”

On a beautiful late summer afternoon, we drove to Knudhule Badehotel near Ry. After 1½ years of Corona, we felt the need to socialise again. In addition to optional hiking, swimming or coffee and drinks on the terrace, Nordic Tours arranged a minigolf tournament for 22 employees ready for battle. Our supreme winner of the day, Ulrik, received his well-deserved prize during the subsequent dinner at Restaurant Gastronomisk Institut.

A Day at Sea!

As a proud sponsor of local sailor, Frederik Fomsgaard Bruun, we had the opportunity to try sailing for ourselves one windy afternoon. Frederik participated with great success in the European youth competitions with hopes of participating in the Paris Olympics in 2024. Nordic Tours employees were taken on a test sail by Frederik in the bay around Aarhus’ new international sailing center — a fantastic afternoon with high seas and spirits!

Cold Refreshments

On a warm summer day in the midst of our high season, Nordic Tours arranged for a very tasty, cool surprise for all its staff members. In order to celebrate the company’s all-time-high sales results that year, an ice cream truck from local company, Mammis Gelato, set up shop in front of the office, serving the most delicious Italian ice cream to a long line of ‘customers.’ The cold treats luckily had no effect on the company’s hot sales streak!

Roadshow with Danish Cake Buffet

In one of our more creative marketing efforts, Nordic Tours went on tour throughout Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France in collaboration with Destination Fyn. We spent 4 weeks on the road in a specially equipped van with freezers and refrigerators in order to present an authentic Danish cake buffet to some of our select B2B customers. We rolled up with a comprehensive presentation of all that Funen and Scandinavia has to offer, including a beautifully decorated candlelight cake buffet filled with traditional Danish pastries.

and more…

Whether it’s an opportunity to test some of our exciting products — like Bridgewalking Lillebælt — our annual Christmas party, or study trips for the entire team, Nordic Tours prioritises taking good care of its employees. We firmly believe that the best way to retain a fantastic team and attract the brightest new colleagues is to make sure we make time to enjoy ourselves together along the way.
