World Class Fjords

The 3 largest and most rugged fjords in Norway are just a few of the spectacular highlights on this trip. You will experience fascinating landscapes with mountains over 2000 metres high, unique serpentine roads, and the relaxed urban atmosphere of Oslo and Bergen.

Day 1: Arrival in Gothenburg
Board one of the Stena Line ferries bound for Gothenburg and enjoy a large evening buffet on board.

Day 2: Gothenburg – Hamar (410 km)
Drive along Sweden’s west coast to Oslo, Norway’s captial city, beautifully situated on a sparkling blue fjord. Enjoy a tour covering the city’s most important sights: Vigeland Park with over 200 bronze, granite and iron sculptures, the Olympic ski jump, Holmenkollen, perched high above Oslo with a unique view of the fjord, and much more. Continue to Lake Mjøsa and Hamar. Overnight stay in Hamar.

Day 3: Hamar – Ålesund (460 km)
Drive through the fertile Gudbrandsdal valley via Dombås past the steep “troll wall.” Continue over the spectacular Trollstigen Pass to your destination, Ålesund. Overnight stay in Ålesund.

Day 4: Ålesund – Førde (305 km)
Today more highlights await: a boat trip on the Geirangerfjord and a drive along the fantastic Eagle Road to the Geiranger Skywalk. Majestic snow-covered peaks, wild waterfalls, fertile landscapes and the deep blue fjord – simply enchanting. Overnight in Førde.

Day 5: Førde – Bergen (280 km)
Another insider tip is to follow the National Landscape Route – across the Gaular Mountains, past rapids and waterfalls, with breathtaking panorama views from the “Utsikten” rest area. Follow that with a short ferry crossing over Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, the Sognefjord. Pass the Hopperstad stave church and continue across the rugged plateau of the Vika Mountains to Voss and onward to Bergen. Overnight stay in Bergen or surrounding area.

Day 6: Bergen – Tisleidalen (325 km)
Enjoy a 2-hour guided city tour in Bergen, including its famed fish market and picturesque Bryggen district. A fantastic natural and cultural landscape awaits you at Hardangerfjord. Orchards line the shore and in the distance, the Folgefanna glacier glitters in the sun. Travel through the narrow Mabø valley and across the rugged Hardanger plateau to Tisleidalen. Overnight stay in Tisleidalen.

Day 7: Tisleidalen – Oslo (190 km)
Drive past Tyrifjord to Oslo and board one of Color Line’s comfortable ships for the journey through Oslofjord to mainland Europe, where a large dinner buffet awaits on board.

Day 8: Departure
Return journey home from Kiel.
