North Cape – the Top of Europe!

The classic tour among all Scandinavian tours! A short visit to the exciting capital of Sweden followed by the overnight ferry to Turku, Finland’s oldest city. On the way to the ‘Land of the Midnight Sun,’ drive through the ‘Land of 1000 Lakes’ with its endless vistas, many national parks and unique architecture just waiting to be discovered.

Once across the Arctic Circle, immerse yourself in Sami culture, before heading to the top destination of the tour: The North Cape. While it may not be the northernmost point in Europe, there is no doubt that the magic surrounding the place is truly unique. Standing in front of the famous steel globe with the view from the steep North Cape rocks rising from the deep blue Arctic Ocean is an emotional and unforgettable experience!

Day 1: Jönköping
The journey begins in Jönköping, where you find a Match Museum in the old factory hall – the only one in the world!

Day 2: Jönköping/Stockholm/Turku
Continue on to Stockholm – also known as “The Venice of the North” – and one of the most beautiful cities in Northern Europe. In the evening, embark on one of the SILJA LINE ferries bound for Turku, Finland.

Day 3: Turku/Jyväskylä
Turku is the oldest city in Finland and home to Turunlinna Castle, located right next to the ferry terminal. From here, the journey proceeds through the picturesque lake landscape to Jyväskylä.

Day 4: Jyväskylä/Oulu
Drive through deep, green forests to Oulu, beautifully situated on the northern coast of the Gulf of Bothnia.

Day 5: Oulu/Rovaniemi
Follow the road along the Gulf of Bothnia to Rovaniemi, also known as the hometown of Santa Claus. Accordingly, a visit to Santa Claus village should not be missed, and the Arktikum Adventure Center is also worth a visit.

Day 6: Rovaniemi/Saariselkä
Continue across the Arctic Circle to the gold panning town of Tankavaara with its interesting museum to Saariselkä. The Urho Kekkonen National Park bordering Russia is a breathtaking stop along the way.

Day 7: Saariselkä/North Cape
Drive along Lake Inari, a sacred spot among the Sami people, through the Norwegian Finnmark and the imposing Porsangerfjord to the North Cape island of Magerøya. We recommend an evening excursion to the North Cape with a view of the Arctic Ocean and ‘midnight sun.’

Day 8: North Cape/Alta
Head back south, possibly with a short detour via Hammerfest, the northernmost city in the world, as the journey continues to Alta. Be sure to make time for the 6000-year-old rock paintings located here, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 9: Alta/Tromsø
Follow the rough but beautiful coastline to Tromsø. This modern city is known for its Arctic Cathedral, the Polar Museum and the world’s northernmost brewery, “Mack.”

Day 10: Tromsø/Narvik
A short day’s drive to Narvik awaits, where the War Museum offers a vivid telling of the 1940 battles. Narvik’s ice-free port is also the departure point for much of the ore mined in Kiruna, Sweden.

Day 11: Narvik/Mosjøen
Today’s route is the destination: a drive through the fantastic landscape of Northern Norway with its deep fjords, mirrored lakes and impressive rock formations to the cosy Mosjøen.

Day 12: Mosjøen/Trondheim
Make your way from Mosjøen to the former Viking capital of Trondheim. A visit to the 12th century Nidaros Cathedral is a must.

Day 13: Trondheim/Hamar
Finish off your travels by passing through the magical Dovrefjell and along the fertile Gudbrands Valley to Hamar. On the way, we recommend a visit to the Ringebu Stave Church and the Maihaugen open-air museum in Lillehammer.

Day 14: Departure
Individual return journey can be arranged via Oslo, Larvik, Kristiansand or Sweden.
