Norway is a true mecca for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers. This round-trip journey appeals to both hiking experts as well less experienced wanderers and families!
First comes the possibility of a day trip to Norway’s most impressive rock formation, the 600m-high Preikestolen, which rises majestically and almost vertically from the Lysefjord.
In addition, a hike on Besseggen is an option – one of the most spectacular and popular hiking trails in Norway. The view of the deep blue Lake Bessvatnet on one side and and the green Lake Gjendet on the other is truly unique.
Experienced hikers will also have the opportunity to prove their skills on the challenging and nerve-wracking all-day hike to the imposing Trolltunga. Take your pick!
Day 1: Stavanger
Arrive in the affluent oil town of Stavanger on the Norwegian west coast. The charming old town invites you for a leisurely stroll past its well-preserved wooden houses.
Day 2: Stavanger/Excursion to Preikestolen
Today an exciting excursion to Norway’s most impressive rock formation awaits – the 600m-high Preikestolen. This is a day trip with a 3-4 hour hike of light to moderate difficulty.
Day 3: Stavanger – Lofthus
Traverse the Haugesund with a nice ferry crossing and then continue along the fjords with a photo stop at the waterfall, Låtefoss. Today’s destination is Lofthus, romantically and scenically located in Hardangerfjord.
Days 4 & 5: Lofthus with Hiking Possibilities
We recommend a hike along Queen Sonja’s Panorama Trail or through Husedalen, past four impressive waterfalls. The challenging full day hike to Trolltunga is also accessible from here, but most suitable for experienced individuals.
Day 6: Lofthus/Beitostølen
Continue over the Hardangervidda plateau to Geilo and Gol to the picturesque hiking area of Beitostølen. A photo stop or hike at Vøringfoss, Norway’s most iconic waterfall, is highly recommended along the way.
Day 7: Beitostølen
One of Norway’s most spectacular and popular hiking trails is without a doubt Besseggen. A challenging but incredibly scenic hike – on one side lies the deep blue Lake Bessvatnet and on the other, the jade green Lake Gjendet.
Day 8: Beitostølen – Oslo
As you make your way to Oslo, consider a detour to Hadeland Glassworks in Jevnaker. In addition to sightseeing in the capital city, you will still find opportunities to be active here, with a multitude of sports activities in the area or one last hike on the famous paths near Holmenkollen.
Day 9: Oslo/Departure
