On this culinary trip to Norway, you will discover the specialties of Norwegian cuisine from clipfish to Akvavit. Simultaneously get to know the traditional handicraft taking place across the various production facilities with guided tours. Day 1: Oslo
Arrive in Norway’s capital city with the afternoon to explore at your leisure. Enjoy dinner at the 1857 Engebret Café in the historic district before an overnight stay in central Oslo.
Day 2: Oslo – Beitostølen (285 km)
In the morning, enjoy a 3-hour city tour in Oslo with focus on “Food & Beer.” Afterwards, drive along Lake Tyrifjord to Hønefoss and through the Begna Valley to Aurdal, where you visit Hof Noraker. The 14th generation of rakfisk (edible fish preserved in brine) is produced here – a much sought-after delicacy. Off to Fagernes, where the Rakfisk Festival takes place annually. The fish from Hof Noraker has won first prize in the festival competition multiple times. Overnight stay in Beitostølen.
Day 3: Beitostølen – Åndalsnes (305 km)
The scenic route of Valdresflya takes you across the Jotunheim Mountains to the Brimi Seter farm in Lom. Learn about this working farm, its products of the pasture and taste the delicious homemade sausage on your guided tour of the facility. In Geiranger, there is opportunity for a 1-hour boat trip on this impressive fjord. Continue along the famed Trollstigen with its impressive hairpin turns and take in the view of this winding mountain road from the observation deck. Overnight stay in Åndalsnes.
Day 4: Åndalsnes – Kristiansund (155 km)
Drive to the small fishing towns of Bud and Hustad on the coast, where the highlight of the day is the eight bridges featured on the Atlantic Ocean Road. Then it’s off to Kristiansund’s Clipfish Museum, one of Norway’s most important export products for centuries. Norwegian clipfish – salted and dried cod – is part of the country’s cultural heritage with roots all the way back in the Viking Age. At that time, the fish was preserved with salt for long voyages and therefore remained edible throughout the entire journey. Clipfish is characterised by its versatility and a distinctive taste. Overnight stay in Kristiansund.
Day 5: Kristiansund – Gålå (340 km)
Traverse a fantastic landscape through the Gudbrand Valley to Sel via Oppdal to arrive at the Jørundgard Medieval Museum. The reconstructed courtyard was created for the film adaptation of the historical novel “Kristin Lavransdatter” by Nobel Prize winner, Sigrid Undset. After a tour of the historic buildings, coffee and waffles are served. Overnight stay in Gålå.
Day 6: Gålå – Hamar (180 km)
Today’s travels takes you to the Maihaugen open-air museum in Lillehammer before a stop in Nes to have a look at Mølstad farm, where black currants are grown. This culinary tour then culminates with a visit to the Atlungstad distillery south of Hamar for a peek into local akvavit production. Overnight stay in Hamar.
Day 7: Hamar – Oslo (130 km)
Return to Oslo for your journey home.

THE ROMSDAL MUSEUM IN MOLDE
This folk museum is one of the largest in the country and is set in a beautiful park. It showcases buildings and facilities from all over the region, including the Bygata street with its typical pre-war town houses in Molde.
RINGEBU STAVE CHURCH
This distinctive stave church, situated in the middle of hills and farmland, was built around 1220. The bright red tower was added during renovation work in the 17th century, and the interior shines in its original color.
LILLEHAMMER MICRO-BREWERY
Local beer lovers have reopened this historic brewery, which was closed in 1983. They are now brewing small, high-quality batches in the restored 1850’s cellars.
